“General Confusion, USMC/Beat Army”

Because the printer so severely screwed up the previous episode, I opted for a new technique: black lines to simulate gray, almost like engraving. (I got the idea from Berni Wrightson’s “Frankenstein” graphic novel.) It was time-consuming, inexact, and I ended up with mixed results. Particularly ugly when rushed … But at least, whether the printer treated it like a photo or like solid-black art, it would look at least okay.

I had a lot of fun with the backgrounds on this story. But I had arrogantly overloaded my class schedule and was struggling; I didn’t have the mental bandwidth to think of a clever ending. So I went with a lazy Deus Ex Machina. Besides, it reintroduced Rickover to another year’s audience.
